PRODUCTION DIARY: STRANGE PARADE

Spencer Rohan’s first look into the making of Hollus’ now self-titled LP.  This first production diary finds the group in the studio on their first day of tracking Hollus. Rohan takes a peek into the members thoughts on the initial recording as well as features the group tracking three songs live at Rax Trax in Chicago.

Directed By: Spencer Rohan, Gaffer: Seth Thomas

LIVING ROOM LIVE – FEVER SONG

One of the ten songs shot for the “Living Room Live” sessions, in which Hollus performed their entire 2009 record, Joker and the Queen, live in an intimate setting.  This is “Fever Song.”  These sessions featured a fantastic interview by the world renown Lt. Colonel Julius Sweetwater, (featured in the beginning) and we will soon be unearthing these tasty archived moments in all their hilarity.

LIVING ROOM LIVE – JOKER AND THE QUEEN

The second excerpt from “Living Room Live” features the title track of the record, Joker And The Queen.  Derek Porter of Piercing Music playing a mean electric on this.  Interesting Fact: guitarist Michael Lux and bassist Colin Mulhern were involved in a car accident an hour before this take was shot.   (hollus was not at fault!) The car was totaled!  Beauty out of tragedy, folks.

HOLD ON (WILD ROSE) – THE LATEST SHOW EVER

This features Hollus in early 2009 playing a never released song, “Hold On (Wild Rose)” on Spencer Rohan’s The Latest Show Ever.  The group did 4 songs in total, and this was one of the bonus songs not aired on the show.  Cranes, circus sets, and beautiful aesthetic value – we do love Spencer, we do.

‘BOYS AND GIRLS’ ON THE STREETS OF PADUCAH, KY

During the summer of 09′, the group stopped in Paducah, Ky where Jamison and Michael did an impromptu singalong of a tune that had been written years before.  The duo discover that treasures await them, as does a rain storm.  Boys and Girls is featured exclusively on the Lucy Grey/Songs That You Love single.
